With league leaders Atletico Madrid’s inconsistent run of form, Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona are now just one point of the top with El Clasico opponents Real Madrid three points adrift.
Barcelona have been given a huge boost with star player Lionel Messi and veteran defender Gerard Pique returning from injury.
Messi who is the top scorer in El Clasico history has however failed to find the back of the net in his last six encounters with the Los Blancos.
“Hopefully he will be decisive for us” Koeman said at the El Clasico pre match conference.
“We need the best Messi, but above all we need the best Barca, and obviously we need Leo to have a good game, a good attack”
Koeman reiterated the importance of El Clasico where there is always a lot of emotion.
Real Madrid on the other hand will be without their Captain Sergio Ramos who will miss the Saturday clash because of a muscle injury.
The Spanish star has also been linked with a summer move away from the La Liga.
“Hopefully it won’t be his last Clasico”, Zidane said “He won’t play tomorrow, it is a shame but I hope he stays here”.
Zidane also talked about the potential transfer of Lionel Messi to Manchester City in the summer.
“Hopefully he stays at Barcelona, he is good there and it is also good for the Spanish league”.
Koeman also gave his thoughts on the Ramos transfer situation.
“The best for our league is to keep the best players until their last minute of professional football, like Leo Messi”.
“Hopefully Sergio Ramos will stay at Madrid and Leo will stay with us”.
