CNB News – CNN’s Brianna Keilar will reportedly replace Alisyn Camerota as the co-host of the network’s “New Day” morning program.

NBC News media reporter Dylan Byers first reported the change Wednesday. CNN has not officially confirmed the move and did not respond to a request for comment from The Hill.

Keilar is based in Washington, and the move would reflect a broader trend at the network of increased airtime for D.C.-based anchors in recent months. In addition to a broader late-afternoon timeslot for Jake Tapper, CNN has assigned weekend evenings to Washington correspondent Pam Brown, Variety reported on Wednesday.

Camerota, who would reportedly be moved to an afternoon slot, has recently sought a non-early-morning position, Variety reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The network has reportedly been impressed with her capacity to balance serious coverage with a good-natured rapport with co-host John Berman.

“I am still conscious that we are a morning show and we do set the tone for people’s day, and they are walking out of the show with us being the last voice they’ve heard. I do try to inject a little gift of levity and a little bit of  humor and a little bit of kindness,” Camerota told Variety last year. “Whatever we are dealing with, this too shall pass.”

The network is said to be considering broader shakeups for the show, which began in 2013. Chris Cuomo, one of its original co-hosts, has since been moved to prime time.
