Pedro announces Chelsea departure in emotional Twitter farewell as Spaniard moves to Roma on free transfer Chelsea winger Pedro has taken to social media this morning to confirm that his time at Stamford Bridge is now officially over. The Spaniard, who joined the Blues from Barcelona back in 2015, was poised to leave the club at the end of June when his contract expired, after deciding that he wanted to adopt a fresh challenge. Pedro announced he was officially leaving Chelsea with a lengthy goodbye post on Instagram But with the 2019/20 season being extended because of the coronavirus crisis, Pedro agreed to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge just that little while longer, ensuring Blues head coach Frank Lampard had enough options to choose from until the campaign drew to a close. Now, following Saturday night’s 4-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the second-leg of their Uefa Champions League last-16 tie, which didn’t see Pedro involved because of a shoulder injury, the former Barcelona star has taken to social media to announce his departure ahead of sealing a move to Italian giants Roma. The Spaniard won three major trophies during his five years at Stamford Bridge, including the 2019 Europa League On Twitter, the winger, who made more than 200 appearances for the club, winning three trophies during that time, said: “After five wonderful years my stage at Chelsea FC comes to an end. Thanks a lot to the club’s board, to the coaches and teammates I’ve had, and of course to the fans: thank you for the experience of being a member of your big family. “I’ve been very happy here, you’ve made me feel like home.
