CNB News – It was a beautiful experience as the old student’s association of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Ojo, Class of 1989 held their 30th Anniversary and Reunion Dinner at the prestigious Four Points by Sheraton located in Victoria Island.

There was plenty of time to reminisce about the old days with friends and classmates, some who hadn’t met in more than 30 years! Members shared memories, reconnected with old friends, and enjoyed the celebrations.

The event kicked-off with the welcome address by the President, Charles Wariebi Bob. He familiarized members with the developments at the alma mater, the Alumni’s many achievements and shared their future goals and initiatives which were focused on development of the alma mater and members of the Class of 1989.

Video clips of some alumnus in the diaspora were presented and a one-minute silence was held in memory of those that had passed on.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Akintoye Akindele. He charged everyone present on the importance of education.
In closing, he pledged the sum of NGN100 million naira on behalf of the Class of 1989 for the welfare of retired teachers of the Nigerian Navy secondary school, Ojo.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the “Outstanding Alumni” award to Dr Akintoye Akindele and, recognition of some of the retired teachers who were in attendance; Commodore Edward Ikiere (Rtd), Mr. Agboola and Mr. Okure.

The evening went out with a bang as everyone danced the night away. It was a beautifully lit celebration.
