On Saturday, the incumbent Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, bemoaned the attack on him and other top dignitaries while present at the residence of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomole.
Speaking with newsmen on the incident, the Governor said that security in the former governor’s residence is not assured adding that he will continue to make efforts to settle whatever discord that exists in the All Progressives Congress.
Obaseki also added that he is unsure such an incident would occur at the residence of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party if he visited.
Victims of the attack were Governor Obaseki, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Hon Philip Shaibu, Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu and some other dignitaries who were stoned by some thugs at Oshiomhole’s Iyamho residence in Edo State.
“It is really unfortunate that thing has degenerated to this extent but we will continue to pursue peace and we cannot afford to lose the gains of the last three years,” Obaseki told newsmen.
