Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has charged communities to protect road and electricity equipment of contractors handling ongoing projects in their areas.
He spoke at the flag off of the construction of the Umenger – Keana road at Umenger as well as Gbajimba -Tse-Ortom-Tse-Iordye-Tomatar-Akaahena electricity project in Gbajimba, Guma Local government area.
Governor Ortom who was represented by his Special Adviser on Rural Development and Cooperatives, Dr Gideon Adzer Abya urged the people to ensure the safety of the equipment of the contractors and to cooporate with him to enable them to complete the projects on schedule.
The Permanent Secretary of the Bureau, Mr David Ishegh urged the people of Utyondo to form cluster settlements and desist from their current scattered settlement pattern so as to enhance their security and also accelerate development pace.
In his welcome address at both events, the Sole Administrator of Guma local Government Area, Mr Anthony Shawon, appreciated Governor Ortom for providing critical infrastructure to the people of Utyondo and Guma local Government in general.
Mr Shawon appealed to youths in the area who have been intimidating the contractor to give them money or stop work to desist from such, as the contractor was specifically mobilized to construct the road linking Umenger with Keana in Nasarawa State.
The Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Mr Boniface Ortese also expressed appreciation to Governor Ortom for mobilizing the contractor to site, stating that the road when completed will boast the economy and security of the area.
Mr Ortese also thanked the Governor Ortom for awarding the contract for the construction of the NASME Barracks – Yogbo – Udei Road.
Special Adviser on Education, Mr Matthew Mnyam, urged the people to continue to support Governor Ortom with prayers and desist from engaging in falsehood against an administration that has come to restore that which was lost.
His colleague on politics, Mr Saawuan Tarnongu charged the people to support present government and disregard those he described as enemies of the state who are spreading falsehood against the administration in their bid to take the people backwards.
At the flag off of the electricity project in Gbajimba, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Guma local government area, Mr Anthony Shagba, pledged the support of the people of Nzorov to the Ortom administration, especially as it has continued to embark on projects that will impact positively on their lives.
The Acting Ter Guma, Chief Joseph Gborigyo charged the contractors not to fail the people
and government in executing the projects adding that the people were impressed with the quality of work so far.
Responding on behalf of the contractor handling the electrification project, Dan-Ella Global Resources, Mr Mike Iordye, informed the community that he has been mobilized for the project, and appealed for their support towards the completion of the job on time.
